Cucurbita pepo
Originating form Yugoslavia, this gourd has a bush type growth habit and is similar to a patty pan with 8-10 finger-like protrusions. They are delicious when eaten young when the skin is still soft and tender. They can also be left to mature slightly for a deeper flavor to the flesh. If left to mature fully on the plant, they store extremely well and make fantastic ornamental display items.
