Cucurbita maxima
The Golden Hubbard is our favorite hubbard of all the color variants available. The vine is super productive, producing 3-5 fruits per plant averaging around 10lbs (4.5kg) each. The beauty of this variety lies in its vibrant orange skin and flesh. The skin has the typical knobbly texture of a hubbard and if picked young, can be eaten skin and all. The flesh is dense, dry and sweet and is perfect for roasting, boiling, canning and for thick, rich purees. Also a good storage squash if left to fully mature on the vine before harvesting.
