Brassica oleracea gongylodes
A very easy to grow variety. The above ground 'bulb' is a pale green with a tender, white flesh. The flavor is somewhere between a turnip and a mild cabbage, with a fine texture. These are delicious raw or cooked, roasted or in stir fries. The leaves are also edible and when young make an interesting and flavorful addition to a salad. The bulb should be harvested when they reach the size of an apple or tennis ball, otherwise they can become tough and woody.
