• Canary Yellow Swiss Chard

Took a while to germinate but well worth the wait. The stems are as delicious as the leaves. Once it gets going it grows really fast. You should be able to harvest once a week. Grows extremely well in winter! I'm planing them everywhere so that I never run out.

This bright yellow stemmed chard germinated well and look really pretty in the garden. The stalks are too pretty not to use, young in salad, or chopped up and cooked. I harvest leaves every two weeks throughout summer, then blanch and freeze them for winter and they just keep on bouncing back. We have had fun trying to create all the colours of the rainbow in our summer salads and these yellow stalks play their part well.

Canary Yellow Swiss Chard

Beta vulgaris var cicla

This Canary yellow Swiss chard is so beautiful and brightly colored that it would look right at home in your flowerbed. A very hardy vegetable that can produce for up to 12 months, weather and soil nutrition allowing. The younger tender leaves are great in a salad, the larger more mature leaves are best cooked like a spinach. Our favorite is to cook up some onion and potato with the Swiss chard and mash it together with a stick or two of butter. Delicious! We find that out of all the colored Swiss Chards, the yellow is the sweetest.
