I have grown these for the past 4 seasons. Other varieties of runner beans come and go in my garden. These stay, as they bear prolific quantities of beautiful, great tasting beans.

Excellent and prolific variety! Consistently produces loads of beautiful purple beans. Only drawback is that the beans aren't fleshy like the green beans the family are used to. Didn't stop me serving them up steamed. Almost nutty flavour. Will definitely plant again!

My veggie garden is fenced to keep the dogs out. I planted these against the fence, what a beautiful sight with their pretty purple flowers. Pick the beans daily to prevent them from becoming stringy.Use young beans in salad for a splash of colour. Great taste fresh or cooked.

An absolute winner. We have them growing in a couple of places in the garden and they just carry on and on producing.

We planted these a few weeks ago and they are LOVING our mild Durban winter. They do seem to be quite sensitive to hours of light though - our plants that are slightly shaded are about half the size of the ones in the full sun bed.

Blue Peter Pole Beans

Phaseolus vulgarus

This pole bean is a beautiful and useful addition to your vegetable garden. The more you pick, the more they produce. This climber produces pretty, deep purple beans that on cooking turn a rich, dark green. Pick when young and extra tender to use raw in salads, in dips or simply to snack on.
