Chinese 5 color

Capsicum annuum

 This is a Chinese heirloom that has cone shaped chillis that ripen from purple to cream/white to yellow, then to orange and finally red. As the chillis ripen at differing times, there are often all 5 colors on the bush, hence the name Chinese 5 Color. The younger 'unripe' peppers are surprisingly hot and they get sweeter as they ripen. Delicious addition to salsas, soups, stews and sauces.
